The Government plans to amend the law to expand the powers of legal aid officers as part of its efforts to expedite backlogged cases. Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Zaid Ibrahim, who is in charge of law, said that by expanding their powers, these officers could to settle the cases of those who could not afford to hire lawyers.
